I wrote a blog a year ago about the importance of serving with your spouse, not much for us has changed except where we serve, but today I am thinking again about the blessing in marriage that come from serving with your spouse and serving your spouse.
The joy and connection of serving together as a married couple cannot be duplicated.
We were done serving with our youth group at the end of May and we took a lot of this last summer off from serving to refresh ourselves for the upcoming year of marriage small group leadership. During the summer we were quite busy and the time passed quickly as we prepared to start our new season of groups.
Serving together and seeing the difference God can make through you as a team creates a connection between husband and wife that cannot be re-created through any other activity.
There is something joyous about touching people’s lives and them touching yours. God’s intention was for us to serve each other and I feel that serving in some manner should be a part of all marriages and families. Serving creates a giving spirit and I feel that when that spirit it shared with your spouse, it creates a spirit of giving within your marriage.
Serving comes in all forms, we are not all cut out for a missions trip, little things mean a lot to people.
I am so happy we were able to return marriage to mentoring through Loveseat Marriage, it fulfills something in our marriage and it gives us the opportunity to build the couples around us and prepare them for their marriage relationship success. It in turn, creates a stronger, thriving marriage for Greg and I.
For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. ~ Ephesians 2:10
Share with us how you serve in your marriage and families!
